Setting up UT99 on Linux

#1

I’m starting a small UT99 revival, and since I’m running Linux as my desktop OS these days, need to figure out how it’s done in a modern environment.

Here’s part 1, which is about setting it up using Wine and Steam: https://shrimpworks.za.net/2018/02/03/ut-on-linux/. There will be a native version of this coming soon as well.

If you’re just interested in getting UT going on Windows, there’s also this (not by me): https://ut99.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=373

First step in getting ye olde UT going again .

Here’s part 2, running it natively without Wine: https://shrimpworks.za.net/2018/02/19/ut-on-linux-2/

Yeah we can even do do UT99 again for shits and giggles, could only be fun, not sure how it runs these days, last time I tested I got like 1000fps and game seemed unplayable and super fast lol and my pc is pretty crappy by todays standards.

Unfortunately you need to set a max FPS limit in UnrealTournament.ini, (I forget off-hand the exact option), which seems to keep things reasonable (I just stick to 60, with v-sync).
