According to senior sources within publishing, retailers are being instructed not to list Xbox hardware in their next catalogue publications. “They are telling us that they have reached their targets and want to clear the way for the next machine,” we were told, with our source speaking under terms of anonymity. “It’s reached the point where the amount of money they lose per unit, combined with the fact that they might well eat into their own [Xbox 360] market share, means that continuing the run is just not feasible.”

so, clever or bad move by MS? are they rushing the next gen arrival? the PS3 release has been delayed by Sony, meaning the Xbox 360 (not official name) will b the most powerful console @ its release, with the current XBox 2nd most powerful.

remember, the XBox 360 might NOT be backwards compatible with the current XBox, so what will be happening to current XBox owners? [keep in mind, this has not been confirmed/denied - its just based on speculation wrt certain comments made]

come, some clever discussion ppl :)

ONE THING, saying "MS SUCKS BALLS" is not clever discussion, remember the MS & their XBox are resposible for quite a big shakeup in the current console generation so they must be doing something right.

Its going to be a pretty stupid move to not make it backwards compatible.
Speaking of that, will the ps3 be able to play ps1 games? (not that it really matters, but its still possible)

Look, if you like MS or not, they are not a stupid company. I think this is a smart move because a) they lose money on the actual hardware and b) everyone will wait for the next big thing anyway.

Personally I am very excited about the next Xbox. Being the first to market would propably mean we will finally see it in South Africa this round. Holding thumbs!

I'm tempted to get an XBox just for the Unreal Championship series ;)
