GETTING A UT2004 SERVER UP BY AN ISP

I have chatted to MWEB today and found out the relevant information re quired in order to get a gaming server up.

1. Write a motivational letter to the MWEB board and ask them to put up the server again.
2. Hire a server for X amount not sure yet and split the cost of the hire.

Prehaps some of you know something better or someone to chat to in order to get up a gaming server. All constructive suggestions welcome.

Hey Raz prehaps they could put up 2 servers 1 x duel and 1 x FFA/TDM/CTF server. That way all is happy. What do you think of that suggestion?

Well done Raz:thumbsup:, not sure who you are going to get hold of these days. I think "TP" AKA The Proven was an admin prehaps you could try Naught, maybe he has his number.

Good luck on your quest make sure you have packed in enough provisions, god speed and return safly our prairs and thoughs go with you.:D

We seem one step closer to having our own server again, I just hope that all the peeps punting for a server will make use of it so we can jam every night. To be honest I have not found a game that has satisfied me to the point of replacing UT, I do not think there ever will be one tbh.

The servers were running UT, more than that, I do not know :(

I never set em up, perhaps TP would know more, or one of the 'super admins' as I never set em up.

IS says they moving servers around and the guy told me he will get the server up asap!! I would still like to get hold of one of the older/super admins just to smooth things over!!

IS is doing us a huge favour!!! Cant wait to pomp some flak again :D:D:D

Thanks for the update Raz, just a request please ensure that UT does not check for original CD keys as most of the players do not have a original CD key. Saying that out loud makes me feel guilty though I have an original CD key.

Oh one more thing Raz, are you going to be the only one with Admin access?, or will you be involving someone else encase you are out of town or unavailable just so that we have a fall back admin.

I will not be here from Friday long weekend, spending time with the family. But I have both Xfire and MSN my MSN Addy is brent_chat@hotmail.com as for Xfire not sure. I think it would be great to have things setup for all the UT guys like Xfire so that we can all communicate and organize games matches etc.

We can always post here but that is so iffy at times. MSN works really well as well and I am always on, so perhaps as a gesture we should vote what medium to use for communication.

Thank you for all your effort in finding out as well as following through with getting a UT2004 server up and running. I am sure to say that we all acknowledge the work effort you are putting in to the whole thing. Thanks for also keeping us updated, the last thing we want is to be dissipated and let down.

As the UT2004 community I am sure that there are some guys that could assist us in what files we need for the server, what kind of server is it? Linux or Windows. I think this would help in retrieving the server files that is required.
