View Full Version : Reduction of player limit
Hi
I know it might be "fun" for some people to have 32 people on the server, but at like 19 it just becomes bumper cars.
I think it should be reduced to a more sensible level - there are enough servers IMHO so that the players can balance over them. TDM is just spray and pray at 16 players as it is.

Maybe not for ONS etc - that should probably remain at like 32 or whatever. I was going to recommend 12 but thought I'd get shot down.
The maps are just too small IMHO. UT99 always used to have a 12 player limit, and it was great.

Yup, with anyone above 12 (in FFA/DM) you are just meat for the grinder :P . Very frustrating.

Agreed but on a server that supports all gametypes, can player limits be set for each different gametype?
A good question...pitty we lost all our decent server admins
The problem I see with this is that we are very seldom more than 16 players spread over the servers (excluding clan matches and duel servers). On an incredibly busy night like tonight, we topped out the server at 24, but averaged about 20 from the 3 odd maps I counted. That is of course too much for the server to take, but I would rather lag and play a 24 player game, than be the odd soul not to make the 16 player cut.
If we had a bigger community I would be all for this...
well, 24 players is two servers worth in my oppinion..
Cast your mind back to how it worked in ut99 days - and those maps were bigger.
failing that - can anyone tell me how the !@#$!@ to disable team beacon and player name??
I have to unfortunately agree with Karnuagh (what #@3 kinda name is that anyway)
anything above 16 is just stupid!
