Has anyone been using the ISP yet? I received my 10G R399/m user name and details today and all seems to be good sofar, reasonable speeds- and bonus no contract!

Pings don't seem to have anything to do with your ISP. My AYCE account and MWEB account give identical pings. It may be determined by the quality and distance of the ADSL line itself, or something to that effect.

Telkom tells me my area is not on their priority list.....hows that for a slap in the face...any ideas on how i can get the freekin connection:)...anyone know anyone?...or is this the way they work?

They will only make his exchange adsl if there is enough people needing it- gather a petition together of all the peeps who would order it and whaaalaaa u might just get their attention!

I signed up with axxess 2 days ago (30 gig 599 inc), and i am very happy. Local pings are as low as they can get, + torrents are the usual speeds.
The service cant be better (i faxed the documents through and 10 minutes later i got a call from Johan at axxess to say the account is activated). Even though it was 1 day before june the 1st, which i wanted the subscription to start from, I didnt have to wait.
And there is no contract. Too good to be true actually :)

Let me get this right...1st i must find out who gets fed from my exchange then go from door to door to get a petition signed....wtf (sounds like im trick or treating or asking for ppl to donate to my wonderfull fund)

It might be all good now, but if they become popular Telkom will have something to say. The fact that their explanation on how they can get such bandwidth comprises of a smiley is just plain dubious. I'm not worried about joining up with them, no contract's so if they do get nailed no loss.. I'm just concerned it wont last for very long...

I doubt it. This is only Telkoms idea of an open market, by opening up more VAN's to compete against each other they in turn will show the same revenue but we will benefit from this, not a bad idea to silence the masses.

Max it's not a matter of you getting petitions to them it won't help. what you do need is that a lot of ppl in ur area actually order adsl, then they'll make a three month mission of upgrading the infrastructure their. by which time all the ppl that have ordered will have their orders cancelled by telkom. then you go and re-order and wait 3 more months for them to come and install at ur place. This is the mission I've just been through.

The work around is to make multiple orders, enuff for them to think that a lot of ppl in that area want adsl, so they upgrade their infrastructure. when they be ready to install, see how many orders u have outstanding with them, cancel all except 1.

I'm on axxess and I am extremely happy with the service. I even have better ping times than with my old Telkom account. It's great not having to worry about the 3GB cap anymore :D.

Because i didnt sign up for the AYCA R380/m special (contract) that you signed up for. I opted to pay a little more but not go into the contract option.

Anyways- im happy. 10G is all i need.
