No 512 meg version?

Nah man, we've seen that the X800XL with 512Mb virtually offers no spead increase over the 256Mb version. The only time when we'll see better performance, is after they increased memory bandwidth as well, but such a card will cost an arm and a leg I think. So 512Mb cards at this time are a bit pointless, but would probably become the norm for high-end cards in say, mid-2006 - 2007...

BTW folks, Fluroro posted some info on the new Media Player10 update, offering some real nice video acceleration for cards that support it:

CPU utilization fluctuated from 40 - 55%, using a 6800GT. What are you guys getting?
22 June??? Bit early that seeing that no game even stresses a 6600GT to below say 50fps

I'd much rather go for the Gigabyte 3D1 with deul 6800GT processors.
It's lightning fast and puts its 512mb memory to much better use than the lame-ass X800XL.

Yes, Savvy, brand new, and it sports 512mb memory.

Here's the old one (2 X 6600GT's), if you want to compare.

NO NO!!!
I hate this! What am I, someone who is about to upgrade, to do?
Choices, choices, choices!
Do I get a GF6 GT? Do I wait for a the GF7 GT? I want something that will last me well into next year.
/me burns down the nearest Engin Garage....feels better.

ROFL look at the sise of that thing, when will NVIDIA start getting a clue again?

Sneaky, haven't you heard? Bigger is better! ;)
And the more power it uses, the sweeter. I reckon a kilowatt power supply for the ordinary PC is the next step towards being able to use these graphics cards! :D
Seriously though, the 3D1 replaces an SLI configuration which may consist of two double slot cards. So, compared to it's SLI equivalents, it's (relatively) tiny.... ;)
Or mount it externally and plug it straight into the wall socket :D
