I reaacon it could not hurt, although your cpu will probably be the bottleneck, and maybe your ram, depending on how far you got your fsb on your cpu clocked.

But ye, if you can afford it, it sure as heck will not hurt, although I don't think you will get a jaw droppig difference over what you have atm

I would be very weary buying any 9 series atm and as Haja says, the difference to what you have atm will only be about a 10% improvement which you wont even notice.
I would rather use the bucks to upgrade the rig.

Not worth it. Your 8800gt is good enough, in fact it's already being bottlenecked to death.
Rather get a new Cpu, Motherboard and avoid AMD please they not doing to well for a reason.

The 9800gtx is just not good enough anyways to upgrade to from a 8800gt.

Yeah, these above guys are spot on. The 9800 AFAIK is just a beefed up 8800. In fact, with your current rig and the bottleneck you're already creating - you'd probably notice a better improvement in performance with a better CPU.

Anyways - just adding my imo to the pile.
