Hi guys,

I managed to get my hands on a AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 Dual Core CPU, so now I'm selling my old one...

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (Winchester Core) Socket939:

Runs stock at 2.2GHz, 512KB L2 Cache, clocks to a stable 2.7GHz with decent RAM.

Asking R500

and ..... ? is it worth having a 939 or should i upgrade

Well... it boosted my 3DMark06 CPU score from like 900 to something like 1800+... and the performance difference in UT3 is quite amazing... BUT... it won't compete with the Core2 Duo/Quad range... due to the DDR2 memory controllers and 65/45nm core design... the Intel chips just aren't beatable at the moment.

I only got this CPU for the interim so that I can still play most games whilst saving up for my new rig...

Rather save for an upgrade... or get a decent X2 for cheap and do what I'm doing now.
