Heya,
I read the posts on this forum :
http://utforums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=578745
However, it does not mention what you need to install. Must I install the demo of UT3, or is there a specific UT3 dedicated server file to run, like the old UT's?
Thanks :)

As far as I know you have to install the demo. There should also be a linux server available pretty soon according to beyondunreal.

You need to install the demo, go into it to create a username and password, and then you exit the game. You then launch the dedicated server using the demo software adding the username and password.
contact me on msn and we can discuss. SGS indciated this morning that their UT3 demo server should be up and running either tomorrow night or the evening thereafter.

hey TP,
Where is the "dedicated server using the demo software"
Looked for it, but the only .exe I can find is the ut3 one. Is it a seperate program to run, or am I just stoopid?
Thanks
My guess is just stoopid.

When you Host a server ingame, you have the option to select "dedicated server" it will then launch a cmd window and close UT3.

LeG@cy you are unfortunately incorrect. That is not how you do it :P
a dedicated server is launched using that .exe you referred to Haja, UTDemo.exe. If you use Windows Server 2003 or win XP64 then you need a different .exe, mail me if you want it.
the command line in dos is as follows:
UT3Demo Server DM-ShangriLa?NumPublicConnections=24?GameMode=0?GoalS core=0?TimeLimit=15?ServerDescription="Welcome"?game=UTGame.UTDeathMatch?botskill=3?AdminPassword =[youradminpassword] -log=DedicatedServer.log -Login=[username] -Password=[password]
In the fields in brackets enter in [youradminpassword] any arbitrary password to login from console in-game. You have to pre-launch on your desktop and create any arbitrary login to populate [username] and [password] with its own login and password.
That is about it. the one thing that really irritates me is that I havent gotten the mapvoting working yet. I am working on cycling the maps as an alternative so we don't play one boring map and gametype all the time.
