Well, as a devout star wars fan, I must say the last 2 have not been all that. Perhaps its just because the first SW were ahead of their time, and the latter ones have such a huge reputation to live up to. But I found the last ones with all the lovy dovy shit a bit too much, so lets hope tis last one has more fighting and plot to it. lose the women, lets see Yoda and Darth Vader go for it (fighting each other that is!)

100% Elco, I think if the EP1 & 2 did not have the legacy of the previous 3 films, they would not even have done half as well as they did at the box office. They just went too Hollywood on them, lost the plot, and pumped the budget into the special effects and shit.

A furious light sabre duel is under way. DARTH VADER is backing LUKE SKYWALKER toward the end of the gantry. A quick move by Vader, chops off Luke's hand! It goes spinning off into the ventilation shaft. Luke backs away. He looks around, but realizes there's nowhere to go but straight down.

Darth Vader: "Obi Wan never told you what happened to your father."

Luke: "He told me enough! He told me you killed him!"

Darth Vader: "No! I am your father!"

Luke: "No, it's not true! It's impossible."

Darth Vader: "Search your feelings; you know it to be true."

Luke: "NO!"

Darth Vader: "Yes, it is true and you know what else? You know that brass droid of yours?"

Luke: "Threepio?"

Darth Vader: "Yes, Threepio, I built him when I was seven years old."

Luke: "No."

Darth Vader: "Seven years old? And what have you done? Look at yourself, no hand, no job, and couldn't even levitate your own ship out of the swamp."

Luke: "I destroyed your precious Death Star!"

Darth Vader: "When you were 20! When I was 10, I single-handedly destroyed a Trade Federation Droid Control ship!"

Luke: "Well, it's not my fault."

Darth Vader: "Oh, here we go. 'Poor me, my father never gave me what I wanted for my birthday, boo hoo, my daddy's the Dark Lord of the Sith .... waahhh wahhh!'"

Luke: "Shut up."

Darth Vader: "You're a slacker! By the time I was you're age, I had exterminated the Jedi knights!"

Luke: "I used to race my T-16 through Beggar's Canyon!"

Darth Vader: "Oh, for the love of the Emperor, 10 years old, winner of the Boonta Eve Open. Only human to ever fly a Pod Racer, right here baby! Luke looks down the shaft. Takes a step toward it.

Darth Vader: "I was wrong. You're not my kid. I don't know whose you are, but you sure ain't mine."

Luke takes a step off the platform, hesitates, then plunges down the shaft. Darth Vader looks after him.

Darth Vader: "And get a haircut!"

It was...enjoyable

Nowhere as good as the original trilogy, tho definately the best from the current episodes. CGI was brilliant but it doesnt make a film. Letdowns - Acting in some places was sub par...or maybe its just the script. Best parts i think are duels between Vader n ObiWan, Opening Scene, Grevious vs ObiWan

This and Hero are probably the best movies ive seen this year.

That the acting was dodgy is no maybe.

There was still lots of cool stuff to see though, for example, General Grievous, the Salamander Obi-Wan rode on, and how George Lucas was forced to put Darth Vader in his original suit which was so obviously and terribly dated as to make him look desperately out of kilter.

The thing has these big old fashioned switches and lights and stuff on the front that makes him look like a cross between a juke-box, a gumball dispenser and an Armenian Autobank.

Still rated it high on pure entertainment value.

P.S. I can't wait for War of the Worlds.

I think its really digging for things when you have to look at the special effects to say a movie was good or entertaining - at least the Matrix had a better story - and much better effects.

The fight scenes were lame, I dont think the light sabres have looked any more cheesy. And the whole flipping over to the back of the person must have been done about 5000 times with no variation of the move.

It was a great comedy though, I laughed my ass off at all the lame sad scenes

Star Wars EP3 - 6/10

Camera work was not great, but acceptable. One or two great shots but otherwise nothing special.
Writing was usual Lucas, great at the action and overall story but crap in heavy emotional dialog. The ending was a little rushed though, but since most people have seen the original triology then it already makes sense. Character development of anyone other than Palatine, ObiWan, Skywalker and Padme was left lacking. There were many chances to really flesh out some characters who had amazing potentional, like General Grieves, and scenes, like the attack on the wookie home world, which were just left lying on the floor.
Acting from McGregor and McDiarmed was excellant, although I felt McDiarmed's makeup after his lightning battle with Samuel L Jackson ruined his expressions from then. Christiansen has grown amazingly as an actor since EP2 but still battles with emotions like sadness and conflict, which is the main driving forces of his character. Overall both EP2 and EP3 would have been better if another actor with more experience had done that role. Portman clearly did not connect with Christiansen so the romance between them was very pushed.
On the technical side, lighting was 99% perfect. CGI was the amazing ILM work that blows me away each time. The music was great. Loved the combinations between the traditional star wars themes and the prequel themes. Sound effects and foley work was also spot on for perfect star wars.
Compared to the other Star Wars movies the traditional trilogy is still miles better, but this is easily the best of the prequel trilogy.
Biggest regret/disappointment of the movie was R2D2 and his flying and catching things and so on. Somehow I feel it should not have been done in this movie or even EP2 for that matter since in the original trilogy he can not do any of this.

I loved Starwars episode 3, the opening scene had so much action I had no idea where to look. One argument I am having with some okes is that I say Master Windu didn't come close to killing the emperor; the emperor faked it to get Anakin to fully turn against the Jedi.

10/10 IMHO, I am a starwars fanatic!

I do have one question to ask all you starwars fans. I remember in episode 6, Luke asks princes laya (spelling), what she remembers of her mother, and she turns around and says that she was always sad. However their mother dies before ever seeing them, so am I missing something here?

Another thing I would like to point out. Did you notice that as the movie progressed, all the "electronics" and "technology" started to get more degraded and old starwars looking. I think it was an amazing look to actually get the old starwars feel at the end, especially when Vader has his ancient suit on :P

Grievious was the best part of Episode 3, but as usual, Lucas ends up killing all of his cool characters. The movie was darker than the rest, which was good. Didn't like the patchwork directing in the first half though. You could feel them trying to tie the story together with Xtreme force.
Suprisingly, Obiwan was my favourite character by the end of the Three; mostly due to him being the only constant personality throughout all the movies. I felt as much for the rest of the cast as I did for Trinity when she was impaled in the final Matrix.
All in all, it's still the best Space Opera there is, lack of competition withstanding.
Maybe it's time someone else took a crack at the genre?

Quite an interesting question. I think that because Princess Leia is able to use the Force she is able to remember such things while she was still an embryo. The bond between a mother and child (even more so with the daughter as is the case here) may allow her to remember such things of her mother.

I think the sw genre of movies are the best ever made. LOTR is okayish, Parry Hotter is wolly wanka stuff.

G. Lucas isint perfect but for someone to try and improve his work i think is a tall ask. Must agree right at the end of the sw ep3 when you see that other thing(not spoil it) you get the proper connection between the old and new sw movies.

I still reckon it was awesome movie.

Jingo
24 May 2005, 22:15
The movies were definitely good, it's just that people had really high expectations.
I'd like to see more Star Wars being directed without the worry of character history and plot filling. Maybe more focus on the Bounty Hunters and Troops instead of those pansy Jedi. :p

I've heard lots of rumours about series and other movies lined up. There could be some entertaining possiblities ahead.

D>Fantom

As Yoda says in EP3, it could be that the prophecy was misread.
In any respect the prophecy was that Anakin would end the sith, which he did, and that action would balance the force.

Jingo
24 May 2005, 23:28
Wasn't the prophecy:
'The one who would bring balance to the force'?
If so, then Anakin did just that by destroying the Jedi.
Balance can only be achieved when opposites rest equally. The Jedi far outweighed the Sith. They certainly don't after Episode 3.

'The Butterfly Effect' must have been one of the best movies I've ever seen. So intriguing and full of possibility.

Brilliant flick, didn't know that feller could act his way through a serious movie!

Man, I just watched episode 3 on big screen then episode 4,5 and 6, to my amazement, the changed the last act where Yoda, Obi Wan and Anikin stands in their “invulnerable” form staring at luke.

Well, they edited Anakin’s characters to make him look like the character in episode 3. Which just brought back the Whole Star wars feel.

I love the “FEEL”.

I love Star Wars .

Ye, you find that in the digitally remastered DVD. Did you also notice the new scences with the Naboo and a few other races from Episode I, II and III?

Episode 3: A beautiful film, but utterly stupid.

Episodes 1 and 2: Much the same.

Episodes 4, 5 and 6: Cool for one of two reasons: 1) You were 12 when you saw them. 2) They were novelties.

Spongebob Schwammkopf über Alles! :D

As regards SW3, I was impressed with Obiwan's sk33333ls. I reckoned him for a gonner quite a few times.

The Merowinger? He held cool parties, but he looked a bit camp.

SW3 was shit. The only two people that could act properly were Yoda and Obi Wan.
It was a great comedy though.

You wanna see a good movie on circuit now? Go see Wicker Park, brilliant movie.
