Well the flames from the previous post has died down due to it being locked. So its time to start a new flame thread so people can start flaming again at the topic and the topic starters and supporters can flame the flamers for always starting flame wars.

Its a vicuos circle that will only stop when the people condeming the flamers will realise that it is them that start the flame wars orrrrrrrr it could simply be their intention which would make it flame bait.

LX, I promise you I would! Promise. I just can't rally even a 5 man team for ONS. People just hate playing a 60 minute map fighting for 1 single node. When the demo came out ONS was kicking, Torlan was just small enough to be fun. For that matter, most small maps are fun. Once you get to that arctic thing and that replanet thing, the fun just stays camping at the core :)

You will be put into a 4 or 5 man team depending on your ranking. All clans, infidels, hobos and community peeps all deurmekaar. Great fun!

Honestly though, why not scope out the ladder qualifyings? The ladder isn't based on clan teams, and if you don't like what you see you don't have to play in the ladder itself. :)

The general length of matches is a bit of a problem, one which is difficult to solve (I previously thought it wasn't that difficult but have come to some new realisations). In a way we've become the victim of our own success - as the community's skill increases, matches take longer and longer to complete (unless the teams are way unbalanced - then it's over in minutes).

In the end it is a different gametype, and certainly not one that everyone likes. That won't stop me from taunting you, however. ;)

Yo XAN. Can't you just put drain powercore on some rediculous amount (if it is changeable) when overtime kicks in? That will make the maximun amount of time about 22 minutes for a game.

No need to sign up, most games take place at night, and as long as the teams are even and screenshots are taken at the end of every match when you played then its fine.

well, if, likes Nauts "1on1 helping thread" someone would take me aside one night on a server and teach me the finer arts of drving the vehicles, then maybe I would even consider playing it. I get tired though of ppl zooming off in a vehicle, and having to run on foot 300000km's, only to be blasted by someone with a tank, or made into a pancake.

Also,what is the lead time on the ladder games, or the qualitfying games? Another possible problem I see is that the ons games take place very late at night, wheras I pack up a 9pm during the week, sometimes these games take place at 10-11pm. please correct me if I am wrong, as if they are organised in advance and are earlier, I would like to pop in and have a go:)

The onslaught matches normally takes place after the TDM and CTF. So, Haja and Gamos, if you stick around after CTF / TDM for just one match per evening, you'll qualify in 10 days! On weekends, especially Sunday evenings, onslaught can be arranged to get lots of qualifying matches played.

Xan's very often hanging around by his lonesome somewhere on the onslaught server from early evening. Join him, Haja, and ask him to give you his coveted "Onslaught K53 Licence" training.

It includes parallel-parking a tank on top of a fully-loaded, enemy hellbender, hooting milliseconds before pancaking a hapless pedestrian, crash landing raptors on enemies (without voiding the warranty) and general "arive alive" tips.

I've been thinking the same thing. I'll see if I can get us to try it out on one of the servers.

There is a guide (http://www.unreal.co.za/forums/showthread.php?t=51) available in the ONS Ladder section that gives lots of good tips and tricks. Getting a feel for the vehicles is something that's difficult to teach. You just have to play enough, I guess.

Sjoe, 9PM on a weekday, eh? You're out of luck if you're looking for ONS matches before that. We can try organising something over weekends if you want?

Ok, I've read through both the Rules and Rankings threads, and although I don't quite understand the Risk-esque rules, I am prepared to give it a spin.

In a nutshell, you see ONS happening on a server, you play. Any day, any time as long as it is 4vs4 and you play the whole map - right?

I can see this dragging Naja kicking and screaming into the ONS age.

as for tips while playing were always happy to help u there....all u need to do is ask when u play...
