Naut, you had a post on the old forums on how you setup you mouse sens, could you post it again if possible, i'd like to try it out.

Ok... I have the mathematical one and basic mouse setup, I will work out the mathematical version again, but concerning the basic, it is pasted in one of my previous posts that I have just put up.

I did what you said Naut. The mathematical thing in your user.ini. It completely screws up my aim.

Elco, like I have said, all of this is just to get a player started, if you have found the sense that you are comfortable with then go for it man. This is but a guide, you are meant to take things with a pinch of salt. You yourself know your settings from UT99 hence you know what gameplay and configuration u are comfortable with.

Yes, but, I feel, if the mousesampling rate is not what physics tell me it should be, then I am not using my mouse to its full potential ?

Well, since you have an MX510, its frequency is 500mhz. Standard physics 101 period (sample time) = 1 / frequency. Hence period = 1 / 500 = 0.002. This would give you the optimum output of your mouse.

Mine is like 0.008330 . I suppose this is the default setting.

That is the default setting which allows your mouse to operate at 120Hz

ive never seen this, no one ever told me, you know i had to play 3 years with a crap sense to get my aim as good as it is today!

Manta wants to know where this can be found as well!

I was also interested, but instead of waiting for someone to find it like you lazy douches I actually found it :P, lol I hope it is the right thread, Its the first post of nauts, quite interesting :)

below is the stuff

[Engine.PlayerInput]

MouseSamplingTime=+0.008333 -- change to +0.005

This setting affects how fast/slowly your mouse moves by taking samples at more/less frequent intervals (in seconds). As this number decreases from the default the more responsive your mouse will seem as samples of your mouse movement are taken at more frequent intervals. Experiment with this setting if the default sampling time doesn't seem to help your mouse speed.

How I worked out +0.005, I know that my usb has a frequency of 200Hz there fore T=1/f standard physics which gives me 0.005, I need the + to give me positive axis.

Please note, if you have an old mouse, you might experience jerkyness, this is due to the fact that your IC cannot handle the requests made by UT and causes the IC to give out 16bit overloads, which means you lose information.

Ag man, I did read that. I didn't realise that was THE Mathematical formula, cause it was pretty straight trivial, I was expecting some hectic thing. Like, PI*tyre diameter/internal drive ratio/spur*pinion, o no wait, thats for rc rollout.

Should set mine to 0.002, seen my G3 is polling at 500Hz. Ive tried those apps which modify your registry to try set it to 1000Hz, but nothing happened.

So what is the basic method then, I thought this was it? Naut, help? And do you not think the higher the polling the better? Cause I know you dont necessarily think the higher the DPI the better. From what I understand, DPI can be likened to display res as polling is to screen refresh rate. The former is the actual sensitivity of the mouse, like how sensitive the mouse is to change, while the latter is how often to check for a change and report it. So you might not want to high a DPI setting since a tiny tiny movement could lead to a miss.

I run at 2000 dpi, 500Hz with a think just below half Windows sensi and 3.1-3.2 UT sensi. Sounds real sensitive hey? Think a full 360 deg turn is about 10cm - funny thing is in general I am a better long distance shot than a close proximity guy. I am trying to lessen my sensi but finding it quite hard! I think it is because I dont have any arm movement, only wrist movement with my pinky as a stabilizier. Is it just different strokes for different folks here Naut, or do you think I'm too far in the extreme???
