MacOs, Windows, Linux?

Which OS are you using and why? All people I know that have a mac act like jehovas witnesses about it, trying to convert you, so far I didn't like the Apple products I've tested thou. MacOs seems to take up alot of Ram, the Ipod doesn't let you choose to organize (or copy) your music etc. and not all software I need is available for mac.

There also aren't as many freebie programs available for it etc., I personally wouldn't buy a mac even if they were in the same price category as a pc.

From the Linux operating systems, so far I've only tried Fedora, but that seemed sluggish and it takes too much time to install stuff. I'll stick with windows, what about you guys?

Not going to vote, but I use windows. Mostly, because I do software development, for companies using it. I do believe that linux products are just as good and it all depends on what you need the OS for. Mac and Apple are synonymous with graphic designers.

So sit back and watch the os wars begin.

Ok point taken.
I was aiming at the gamers perspective thou, this being an UT forum.
Don't want a nerdy "OS war :P :P. I'm really just interested what the majority here thinks, as I am sure there is no "best" OS.

Using Linux on my Home Desktop PC
On my personal notebook I run Windows XP SP2
Work Laptop I run Windows 2000
Work desktop I run windows 2000

But out of all the OS's I tried, Linux FC6 was the best for when it came to gaming (UT2004 and Quake3 wise)

Neva felt a game ran so smooth b4.

This should be in the general section because you'd probably get a better response if it was.

I use Windows and a I have spent some time on Ubuntu Linux. Ubuntu is great to work with but, because I'm such a linux peasant I ended up spending more time reading how to do things than actually doing them. I would have probably stuck with it a little longer if I had more patience and time.

As for MacOS. My experience with iPod has completely put me off ANY Mac software. Simply because, I want to it what to do, I don't want it to tell me how to do it! The Mac OS is really stable and works great, especially if you bought it for one simple purpose (like video editing or graphic design or surfing the web or soemthing) but it most certainly is FAR behind Windows and Linux when it comes to customising your software and general advanced usability.

I couldn't agree more. Plus itunes screwed with the remote control of my tv card, took me days to find the source, as soon as I uninstalled it again it worked again. Won't ever install apple shit software again unless i have too.

9 votes so far isn't very representative. Although I like the outcome, I expected everyone to vote for a mac, as it seems that people here in germany/ austria really like the design and stuff, (add to that the ipod hype) they only don't buy it cos it's a bit more expensive.
