UT2k4 original to play online?

yo,

Ok, some twat borrowed my ut2k4 a while back, and now he has lost it. So, what I need to know is do you still need the original to play on the servers (sgs and kal), cos I need to re-install and am scared of losing my copy.

Or is there a way to get my cd key from the registery (I have no idea how to do this). I stll have it installed, justy need the key :)

o.k. what you do is:

Go 'Start', 'Run', then type 'Regedit' - Enter..!!
Then you go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Unreal_technology/istalled_apps/UT2004, Then you highlight UT2004, click on 'File', then 'Export' & hey presto you have your cd key..!!

By the looks of things you just need to save the image & maybe use normal XP's previewer to look at it..!! kinda made it smaller with 'infranview'..

simple- what he means is , if you have the cd key its as good as having the game (since you are then allowed to play online and can get the cd/dvd from another source and still play) Therefore if the opposite was the case then he would be screwed since no legit cd key = NO ONLINE AT ALL!!!
