very nice WH. I know nothing bout RC cars, but its looks sweet. I dig those tyres, just like real hi-performance tyres, that have to run one way.

Nice colours too :)

Hahahaha!!!

Nice car. I don't know much about RC except that every now and then a friend of mine and I used to race offroad RC on a track at the back of his house and it was good fun! :)

war is that an elec engine?? looks like

Nautilian
11 Dec 2006, 22:07
Yup that is a electric motor, by the looks of the endbell, it looks like a 19T-24T motor, looks like it is going to run either modified or super stock. Toe looks like 0 to +0.5 front and back. 64 pitch spur, something in the 90s. Ride height looks equal all round, maybe 4.5 or 5.

WarH, taking a look at your car, it looks like you have not sanded your CF bottom deck. You sure are brave as one good knock and that CF is gonna split. Take some sandpaper, 600 grit, round the edges until you get a rounded look, take super glue and then line the edges. It also gives a really awesome finish ;)

Yeah Naut is right, super glue the edges.

I've also got the Pro 4 Warhead, sept my baby is the Hara edition. Couple nice hopups like smaller upper deck, delrin outdrives etc. Runs pretty sweetly, but I still haven't got my setup 100's. Haven't raced in 2 or so months so.

If it is 19 or 24 turn, he can't be in super stock. Super is 27T only. A belt drive would be better suited to mod racing, but different strokes for different folks.
What have you got in there War?

What battery and ESC you running WH? GP and LRP all the way. Haha, just fueling the fire cause nuts is going to argue with me! Although I'm sure he'll agree Spektrum all the way, eh Naut?

Rakshas - you'll be surprised how fast elec can be. They can get close to 100km/h, but obviously they are setup for going around small tracks. I mean if you convert to scale, they go around at like 800km/h for a 10th scale like this.

EISCH... guys... I bought this car second hand... I only started this hobby 4 months ago... :P

I'm not into track racing at all... I do drifting with the D10 guys... I got this chassis on friday... I still haven't fitted my drift wheels, nor my ESC and my new shell I still need to collect from a friend, it's a Yokomo 350z D1 shell. It's a Tamiya RZ 23Tx2 motor, awesome for drifting! ;) As for a ESC, I had a custom ESC that burnt out the other day... so for now I only use my 15T Tazer I got with my Sportwerks Raven ST offroad! :P Wanna get a LRP AI or Nosram international or summin soon though! ;) As for batteries, I got 1x 1600MAh Sportwerks Ni-Cad stick pack, 1x 2000MAh Ni-Cad Camelion (SHIT-UBER-SHIT) Stick pack, 3000MAh Camelion (Sigh, I needed a batt, this is all they had :P) Ni-MH stick pack, and 1x 3300 Ni-MH GP Side by side back, with deans connectors on everything ofcourse! :D

As for the sanding and glueing of the deck, SAY WHAT?!?! :P:P:P

P.S.>You knobs should come register on ONETEN (http://www.oneten.co.za), first and best RC forum in SA! :D:D:D

Shot for the replies... ;)

Awesome karietjie WH!
I smaak that little 2 stroke engine in Cirius' post, how cool is that.!! And 4 wheel drive too if I'm not mistaken! :D Hey Naut, show us your karietjie too!

Yeah WH I think what Naut is on about is that where the CF was cut there is no resin on those edges that's why they look dull so just use superglue as resin, works great and strengthens those edges.

Nautilian

HAHAHA told you it was a Super Stock motor. Just to add further comment, you are allowed to run the Tamiya RZ, TZ, RR and BZ motors in super stock, they are called the Tamiya RZ Super Stock for a reason :P.

Check www.tamiya.co.za or www.tamiyausa.com ;).

For drifting you might find that a CO27 will suite you needs since you won't have to cut the comm that often. On a SS motor you gonna have to cut that comm at least every 12-15 runs, especially with all that pounding on the motor when drifting so make it 10 runs.

WarH, you do understand that drifting on a CF bottom deck is killing the poor thing, I can instantly see that chassis tweaking on the first slide :P.

Personally I live by the following: Spektrum HRS (no worries about crystals or interference) and Hara Twister 2.1. LRP make some very good ESCs however I find that they lack performance as they apporach modified. Robotronics iCube and KO-Propo VFS1-C2 also come to mind when thinking about good ESCs. In terms of batteries there is only 1 battery out there, IB4200 WC matched edition.

Naut, I wasn't talking about Tamiya cup, who cares about Tamiya :) I mean who wants to enter in a competition where you limited by the manufacturer totally. Talk about a monopoly. Hehe, just ticking you off!

I was talking ROAR, so if you dont believe me about the 27T, have a look at South African Radio Drivers Associations (SARDA) rules, which governs Nationals.
http://www.sarda.org.za/sardaelec/sarda/rules/rules.htm (http://www.sarda.org.za/sardaelec/sarda/rules/rules.htm)
Things like Epics ROAR (not the binary) and Trinity's CO27 (made by Epic if I'm not mistaken) are legal. None of this Tamiya 23 turn rubbish ;)

O and about the drifting, it's actually not too hard, with the right setup. Yokomo where the first I saw to bring out a car. I've actually seen this one dude at the track with this freaking nifty thing - you can pick your car up, not touch a control, turn your car, and the wheels automatically go opposite lock. So in other words, you waxing it hard left around a corner, and the thing automatically locks right for you. Cause doing that yourself in RC isn't so easy as with a real car. Not sure if they all use this for drifting, I'm sure WH knows, I dont do drifting.

Well you'll never see me driving without a shell... so the shell absorbs some of the impact, and drifting isn't as UB3R fast as normal racing... I think on average one seldomly goes any faster than about 20km/h... drifting is more about controll and style than speed... so our tracks are usually quite small and twisty, with one long drift section, which might be a little dangerous, but like I said... no one with carbon chassis have ever snapped them during drifting, so ye... :)

sorry Koppie, am still not feeling it. It looked really cool for about 10 seconds:(
then it just lost its appeal for me.
I think it must be bcos in dirfting, its not about whatching it, it about performing it, in a real car, where use all ur motor fuctions to keep a car in balance of uncontroled control. I mean come on, going sideways in a real car. its the best feeling, it seriously rocks.(as in drifting).:D
at this stage i only have a minor experince of this, taking my car out on a big gravel parking lot and chucking it around and getting some big action on some nice slides. its not even the real thing and it left me breathless and gagging for more.....sorry man the rc version, i just cant see it doing it for me.
as long as it blows ur hair back then all is well i suppose:)

Drifting RC cars would surely be Rear wheel drive cars only? Ie, not 4WD? (much like in real life?)

Blah blah blah :P Hehehe... just kidding dude... :P Different strokes for different folks... I love it... you don't so what! I don't like animals and you do, hey Natureboy! :):):)

But ye... will post some info as soon as I'm busy with my new project!! :D:D:D

Haja;60187']Drifting RC cars would surely be Rear wheel drive cars only? Ie, not 4WD? (much like in real life?)

Nope... Rear wheel drive just spins out in circles... coz of the scale it happens too fast to counter steer back with 2WD, with 4WD when you get it sideways, the the front wheels pull it back in line when you counter steer! ;)
