ADSL1024 now at 4Mbit.

For those that didn't know, Telkom started their 4Mbit trial last night, with all 1024 subscribers being the beta users for 4Mbit or ADSL4096. People are reporting speeds of 450+K/s downloads.

Now let's hope last night's 2000ms international latency was just end of month syndrome and not a capacity issue.

My ADSL switched over to the 4mb line last night!

It is absolutely amazing. (I know we're just used to nothing, but still :D)

My latency on UT was 32ms, but this was WHILE DOWNLOADING AT 280KB/S!!!!

Anyways, I wouldn't mind having a 4Mbit connection, however I would be far happier with a 30GB unshaped account at 512Kb.

1024:
R516 ADSL + R90 phone + R250 ISP.

Of course you could have a cheaper ISP, but from a rental part, the difference between 1024 and 512 is ~R150.

I'm 100% sure it's all inclusive at just over R500. It seems like everyone else is paying more for their 512kb line. I'm thinking maybe they are not charging me for the ISP cost or something else. I don't have my bill with me to check it out. But it's been at this price for over a year now.

Telkom very often mistakingly add you as an "email account", but this is really a totaly uncapped ADSL account.

Now say for some random miracle, I successfully convince HajE or sAm to pay for my DSL. How will that look like ?

isp Rental: R200 (3Gb)

So if im looking at this correctly, HajE or sAm are going to be paying: R643 ?
