View Full Version : What's got you most excited about UT2007?

There's been enough tomfoolery here lately, so let's have it. What are you looking forward to most in UT2007? Is it the new MASSIVE gameplay mode Warfare? Is it the return of in-your-face DM? Could the possibility of operating a giant tripod tickle your fancy? Or are you just glad dodge-jump is gone? :D
I'm looking forward to how DM might change back to the UT99 style.
What do you guys think?
The graphics, the new vehicles, saner gameplay, some decent DM and CTF, new UnrealEd.

erm I for one am really pesimistic tbh - but that might turn out to be a good thing ... hard to disappoint if you are ready for it
while the graphics and physics certainly look amazing it feels to me that they are nerfing it too much, taking a step backwards from a really kewl and innovative game
the sounds I have heard so far also hasn't really impressed me - specially the much vaunted enforcers and the link gun
but all that being said - I realise its hard to tell from what we have seen so far and I *am* excited because I love this game and epic hasn't disappointed from the beginning ... so I guess I am most excited that there is a new UT around the corner
The pixel sex0r! :D
I am getting a feel of "back to basics" with UT2007, and although some UT2003/4 fans might cringe at the idea of a more UT99 based game, it sits just fine with me. :)
That said, that new ONS mode looks like BF2142. Oughta be fun.

That, to me, sounds ace. I remember how fun it was to be able to run around with the Sniper Rifle at normal range and pluk headshots for fun :D Sure, most of us will miss the good ol' LG, but I think the DM will be a little more interesting and it will force people to learn to use the FC and RL more and not just rely as heavily on SR & LG as is currently the case.
The option of the MASSIVE battlegrounds and especially the fact that what you do in this level affects how the next level starts, has me rather chuffed as well. Oh, and don't forget the supposed "almost no loading time" :P

I'm all for a UT99 gameplay style and I really hope that Epic has focused a little more on the fun factor than the pro factor (of course I'm not saying that they should remove the pro factor completely). I also want to get into mapping again and I'm hoping that with the new physics engine that one can design some very unique and innovative maps. Then I'm really looking forward to the new graphics too (just hope my machine can handle it ok, if not I'll just have to create another DOOM_L1 map for it ;) ). One thing people often miss is the single player factor and by the looks of it they are also focusing more on this. I often still start up an ONS botmatch and play some hectic ONS games against the bots (is there anyone else doing this?).

The UT 99 game style play is awsome and I agree with you Maximus bringing the fun factor into the game again will be realy cool, I cant wait for the demo so I can give it ago. Any one know when they are expecting to release the demo?
The ONS looks realy sick and the fact of the hover boards makes it even way cooler, apparently a person can hook onto a vehcle and get pulled along, I c lots of Michale J Fox's on the come here. All in all it looks great and I cant wait.
Lets go back to the future. :D
Pretty much only the graphics
Im not really looking forward to the changes in gameplay, im happy with it the way it is. If dueling becomes crap / noob friendly im gonna boycott this game. Guess its just wait n see i suppose.
The game is gonna rawk, but i dont know about the dodge jumping being excluded, something tells me that it will be there, im almost sure ive picked it up in a movie, in game, there was definately hints of dodging there, as well as the exact same sound the characters in UT2k4 makes when dodging:D
Its there to bring balance to the force. I just want to see plenty more gibs flying

(is there anyone else doing this?)
Yes. :)
I'm mostly looking forward to the new graphics (shaders... finally!) and am curious about the new vehicles and the changes to Onslaught.
The hoverboards look cool but there's been no mention so far whether you can hurt people with them. :(

Ummm .... bud ..... You hope it will force people to learn to use the FLAK CANNON MORE???:eek:
I don't think that's possible, everyone spams it :P
To see how it will work with .56K :D

Ummm .... bud ..... You hope it will force people to learn to use the FLAK CANNON MORE???:eek:
lol what I mean is that it will encourage more melee battles instead of the long long corridor battles, which would make people use the closer range weapons more at close range :D instead of just random spamming of flak balls blindly, that's a given already ;)
Pretty much only the graphics

Does this mean that we will be seeing the old clans of UT99 come back for a re-run, I have heard so much in the past few years about these elusive clans. I realy hope they do come back with a vengance.
Most looking forward to competitive UT again ! :D
loaded up ut99 just the other day to see what it was like without dodge-jump. same thing really, less tricks and what not but i can live with that. and i'm sure ut2004 has a few tricks up its sleeve when it comes to the new movement physics in store for us.
as for warfare...lag...yawn. :P
cant wait!

From that video that Shrimp posted it looks like the gibs are also back. Utterly useless, but for some reason gibs just makes the kill so much more satisfying. Mhhhuuuhahaaahahaaaaaaaaa. :D
Oh yes, gibs are another thing I'm going to love about this game. I was horrified at UT2003's corpses. They seldom gibbed, mostly just tearing in half. What's worse, one of my favourite things to to in UT was, I would *never* run past a corpse without gibbing it for fun. In 2003 and 2004 they just have physical reactions to being shot, and NEVER GIB! DAMNIT! (and they vanish too fast)
Anyway, yar. Some nice gibs when killing people will be appreciated, especially gib-able corpses.
Geez I almost forgot, no more green shield geiness - that thing just killed dueling for me.

...especially gib-able corpses.
For sure Shrimp! Especially with UT99's flak cannon. And it had such a satisfying sound, it was one of my favourite past times when I wasn't busy trying to dodge someones rockets. :D
