Noob Answer: do a search on www.google.com about pci-express not pcie
Max, it is PCI-express (commonly referred to as PCI-e or just PCIE) that is taking over. Think of it as AGP16x, except this time the socket is not backwards compatible.
SLI just means that they have 2x PCI-e graphics slots on the board and that you can run 2 VGA cards ( about 30%-100% improvement over just 1) with SLI capable cards.
So yes, AGP is busy going out, but I see that they will have future cards made on AGP still (according a leaked ATI roadmap for one) The new 939 Nforce4 boards as example all have PCI-e instead of AGP slots.
