Full Noob question....is PCI-E really going to take over the AGP port, as i hear the AGP slot in new boards is being done away with.

Max, it is PCI-express (commonly referred to as PCI-e or just PCIE) that is taking over. Think of it as AGP16x, except this time the socket is not backwards compatible.

SLI just means that they have 2x PCI-e graphics slots on the board and that you can run 2 VGA cards ( about 30%-100% improvement over just 1) with SLI capable cards.

So yes, AGP is busy going out, but I see that they will have future cards made on AGP still (according a leaked ATI roadmap for one) The new 939 Nforce4 boards as example all have PCI-e instead of AGP slots.
