Yo yo
Im not sure if anyone has noticed but UTCOMP 1.6 is out ages ago. It has lots of good advantages to it. There a version wich i am running called UTCOMP v1.6 beta 8, and its rated top class among internationals.
So just a thought, time to upgrade the servers for us gamers ey?
I asked long ago, of course nothing happens.
No they just don't give a shit.
What version will be used at the ESWC comp is the better question... Does it matter? (new features etc.)
The latest version Gamos... what else would they use?
Well, they didn't jump on the CS:S bandwagon very fast now did they?
Well then...ummm, bump :)

yes ut comp 1.6 ´s enhanced netcode really rocks from my experience, you might get some more 56 k players join in.

My game crashes time and time again with the version of UTComp 1.6 that I got from Pestcontrol. He probably did something to it on purpose. :D {joke}
Where can I download the latest version?
What I also like from the later versions is that they allow you to automatically record demos.

I run the full version of utcomp 1.6 on my home server and no problems.
pestelensie.myftp.org:7777 if any one wants to look at it in action.
All versions of UTComp later than 1.3 gave serious incompatibility problems with some games and several characters and also sometimes caused a server crash with more than 10 players.
What is it exactly that you want from 1.6 that make it so great.
When your server crashes its no problem but when a major ISP's server crashes is a huge issue and heads roll.
So please dont just slam away at Admins without clarifying yourself.

Well i have to admit that for me they all work so if the admins want to stay on 1.3 there is nothing wrong with it.
The only reason why i went 1.6 was because i always brake my server trying something new and just install whatever i have and feel like, which is exactly the opposite than what we need from an isp server admin.
What i would rather see is something different mods etc.
A rather nice mod which i found recently is this 1 http://pestelensie.myftp.org:8001/ut2004files/muts/3SPNv240.zip 155 kb so its small to download.
Its also in action on my ut server if anyone wants to take a look

Ill look into getting as much server information as possible (when im uncapped) as to what needs to be done to make the new UTCOMP work effectively here on SA servers.
Any other help also appreciated.

Well believe me I am not a fanboy of Ut comp, I have a high ping where I stay and happened to find a couple of servers on which the ping stays the same as on the others, but it almost feels as thou there is no lag.
IE. At ping over 100 you have to lead the crosshair infront of the target, because the shot leaves the gun late, cos of the lag, but on these servers I could aim right at the target and actually hit it, because the shot leaves the gun as you press fire, even thou the hit sound and damage sound come slighlty later. That makes it way more fun than leading and you play better and dont get frustrated about lag that easy.
So I tried to find out why aiming directly was possible only on some servers, even thou the ping stayed constant on 20 + different servers. I asked around and actually pressed f5 and saw ut comp 1.6 enhanced netcode enabled on the servers that ran smooth for me. What I am saying pro is that I didnt go read up stuff about ut comp, I actually noticed the difference before I even knew about enhanced netcode. And on other utcomp 1.6 servers that didnt run smooth I voted for enhanced netcode, the vote went through et voila, working.
So you say its not possible to change ut2004´s netcode with a mutator, I dont know this technical stuff, all I say is I feel the difference.
There it is, UTComp 1.6 is now out of beta, and ready for release. For those who missed out on the beta phase, this release adds several new features, the biggest ones being an enhanced netcode to help even out gameplay on higher pings, and a built-in clan arena gametype. Note that unlike the betas, the enhanced netcode is not enabled by default on servers: server admins can either enable it manually (view readme for information on how to do that), or players can vote it in in the voting --> UTComp settings menu.

I found that on a quick random search
That's just client-side hit-detecion, nothing really to do with engine netcode there. I think it's pretty crap, since you end up dying from invisible projeciles (but the person shooting them sees them, so you're dead, tough luck what you, the server, and every other player sees). And I really hate being killed by what seem to be random acts of God.
It's pretty much a hack or cheat that's simply enabled for all players, rather than a single cheater.

well especially in sa where bandwidth isnt exactly free some ppl would maype appreciate it, it doesnt concern me, so its just a thought.
And believe me, its still hard to own on a bad ping even with enhanced netcode, the good pingers would no matter what always have an advantage. Especially since the "enhanced netcode" doesnt only work for the laggers, remember it used to be hard to hit a 56k'er because he wasnt actually at the spot at which you saw him, now you actually hit him. From a bad ping perspective it works gr8 imo, maybe if you try it on the mweb servers that are often empty because of the ping you might get positive feedback.
If you say servers crash etc. I understand why you dont want utc1.6, but if not it wont hurt giving it a try...
edit: and remember that this only really helps for hitscan weapons such as shock or lg, so if someone hits you it was real skill, not an invisible "cheat". Cos wether you see the lg trail/ shock line or not wont make a difference, it still hits you.
Put it on maybe, try it, test it, get a few players to play on it with netcode on, one with 56k, i got just hte guinea pig, my friend, and then test it with netcode off, on one of the Mweb servers perhaps, or I will run it on my own private server.

cool i will come and test it too from here macera :D i´m on interleave so my ping isnt good no matter where I go anyway...
And hey if you dont like it theres even an ingame vote option to disable enhanced netcode and you still have the normal utcomp options available.
I say, lets here if we can fix this up with kala, or else I will test it on my server.
