My four-month old ATIX800 Pro (AGP) died on me.

It was not overclocked, overheated, overused, overeaten or over bloody anything else.

Poke this: I'm buying a 6800 ultra.

Keep in mind that this card is not for my primary gaming rig. My primary machine has an X850XT from the Boogeyman in it. :D (Man, I love that card!)

This card is for my old pentium machine (AGP, btw, so no, an 850 won't work :() that I'll occasionaly use MS Word on, or take to a LAN if I'm too lazy to pack up my primary set-up. It doesn't need to set the world on fire. If it runs my girlfriend's 3D Tetris game, everybody's happy :)

Yes, Flux. I reckon I'll take that machine to a couple of LAN's. I also don't want it to lag behind so badly that it's useless. I play Doom 3 on it from time to time, since it looks better on the CRT monitor than on the flatpanel.

I bought it overseas and I'm only going back there in Feb next year.

I bought a chaintech 6600 with 256MB ram for R1400. Not sure if that is to much. I am using it in my second machine. Works fine. Plays UT2K4 okish. My 9800 Pro 128Mb is however 10 X better than that card. If you want a good game of UT2k4 don't get the std. 6600. I assume the GT version would be far superior.

Not as sexpensive as the Ultra, but plays 3D Tetris where the 6600 range and 6800 (plain) only play forum Tetris. (of corse an ATi dies before classic Tetris even loads :P)

Those scores dont just come from the graphics card itself. It depends much also on the mobo/chipset/memory/cpu used. I've seen people run a X800Pro on a P3 and it doesnt look good... :P

I get 6300 in 3dmurk 05 with AMD 64 3500+ and x800 xt pe at stock speeds, 2x 512 corsair,
so garfs scores look right.

anyway my friend got a new ASUS 6600 GT with gig mem and NF4 mobo, so i put nag's claim to the test 4 x AA + 4 x AF @ 1024 = OUT OF VIDEO MEM, and it's true we tried lotsa differend drivers but all did the same. I won't think i'll be able to "trust" nvidia drivers for a long time, ati all the way!!
