Upgrading the old PC a bit.

Can I run two Samsung 512kb PC3200 units on the one memory channel, and two Liquidsilver 512kb PC3200 units on the second channel?

The Samsung is CL3 speed and the Liquidsilver CL2.5.

Thank you kindly

CAT

Yes, but you will run the whole system on CL3.

The Samsungs can do 2.5, even though their timings are 3.
I've had them before, and they overclock decently enough.
So even if you don't do any overclocking, you shouldn't have any trouble running them all at 2.5

As always, do a Prime95 torture test to confirm stability...

So, I just set their timings to 2.5 in the Bios?

ok firstly!!
1: if you add another 512 dimm and have 3 in your machine it will not run in dual channel
but you dont speciify the exact board and if it is the 865pe.
son in essence you would have to buy another 512 so that you populate all 4 dimms
on the board my bro!!
hope that jelps

2 things.

on my nforce 2 mobo, I can run 3 dimms, and 2 will stll run in dual, and the other one in single (duh), does that mobo not work like that?

Also, is the performance increase of dual REALLY worth it, I heard it is as little as 4%, maybe i you are an uber o/c and want every bit of perfoamance, thats cool, but to the average user, will he really notice the difference?

haj i know on the a64 when you put 3 dimms in it will run at ddr333
which will hurt performance a bit!!
on the nforce 2 it made a huge diff man and on the 875 and the 865 chipsets
