What FOV do you play in?

What field of Vision do you guys play in?

I myself play in 110. 90 is "more accurate" as your models appear slightly bigger farther away, but after being in 110 for yonks, changing back to 90 makes me feel like I am running in mud.

Be interesting to see what the general consensus is though

100 myself. I used to use 110 esp for games like Quake 3 but changed back to 100 for mostly all my games, including UT2004.

Heh, try something like 250 in Quake 1...

well, the more your FOV the wider your viewing area. This is one of the better explanations I have read :

Basically you are taking your eyeballs, and moving them out more towards the side of your head, like a fish. Pro's and Con's. The advantages are this. You can see more on either side of you. But most people, including me, will tell you that they don't use a high FOV just to see more. Changing your FOV makes the game play seem SOOOO much faster. It feels like someone increased the game speed, making it much more fun to play. When I try FOV 90, it feels like I am playing in mud. There is a downside though. By increasing the vision on the sides of your head, you are shrinking your vision straight in front of you. Looking down long maps can be difficult. It also makes people harder to hit with weapons such as Primary shock, or Lightning because your target is a little smaller.

I think it is fair to say however, that a bigger monitor lends itself better to higher FOV. I tried 110 once on 14", and it was horrible.

My 17" is dead happy to be on 90 still. If I use 110, it feels like I am using hax :P

I use 100 on a 21" monitor. Makes the gameplay really great. I use the same FOV on the 19" flatpanel as well. However, coming to think of it, 90 will probably ghost less on the flatpanel.

Is there any merit in duelling on a 90 - 100 and playing CTF and ONS on 100 - 110?. You are more likely to need a large field of view in ONS and CTF as far I have seen.

Cata, in my opinion, its best to keepthe FOV the same. Even changing FOv between weapons can throw some ppl off.
when you change FOV everything changes that you see, so distances seem longer etc. It makes it harder to time asmd shots and such things when you start laying with FOV differently form gamype to gametype, plus everything seems faster, ten slowe,r then faster, so this culd also throw you off your game.

of course, you could just try it and see if it works :)

A bigger FOV definately gives you more seen area though, which is good in FFA and if you are using less accurate weapons, like flak and rockets.
