These guys seem to be the Kulula.com of the ADSL world. I hope they are!
So do i....hope its for real !...but as he says ..My one reservation is the fact that this service is so new that we do not have a large enough base of known users applauding or complaining about the service yet.

the offering is legit. you get 30gb's though so it's no uncapped. there has been a lot about this on www.myadsl.co.za forums. Mostly because the company keeps changing it's story and what it's offering as well as the contract basically means you handing your ass over to them and they can do what they like. Hell they can stop offering the 30Gb, and drop it to normal ADSL, up your price to R2000p/m and you can't do anything, except keep paying until your 12month contract ends.

My main question would be - Where are they getting all this bandwidth from? R480 p/m for 30GB simply is not possible in this country. Even R900 for 30GB is not possible.

Unless they are getting 'normal' (3GB) ADSL accounts for R90 from SAIX?

ROFL at the people on that forum.

#2 I am one of the most well known people on MyADSL, so I'm not a person with a 21 IQ that eats up everyone's bullsh1t.

I expect answers to my questions

All you have to do there is become famous and you become magically super intelligent and when you ask a question everyone must jump. Oh My Word.

The price is FIXED for the entire period, that is in the terms and conditions of this one time only special offer contract. they could however as you say reduce the cap considerably like back to 3gb and we would be stuck paying a higer ISP fee than telkom. I know alot of people are going for the dsl contract with Telkom with the free router modem, what are those term and conditions like? Has Telkom also made similar statements, lets hope not for the people who have gone for the Telkom contract option.

oh well i guess this country is heading towards cheaper internet adsl on a huge scale and at an emormous velocity, the question is, will there be others like AYCE with better offeres in the future ? TO CONRTRACT OR NOT TO CONTRACT -THAT IS THE QUESTION!!??

It's 480 until the end of the month. Normal price is 960 which is 3.8 odd SAIX adsl accounts combined.
Supposedly they have got a deal with Telkom to have the cap higher than normal, seems to be controlled on the radius server side.

there is an old saying,

"if its too good to be true, it usually is"

I would be wary, not saying its a hoax or something evil, just be very wary before signing ANY contract.

Shrimp
27 Mar 2005, 12:40
But other ISPs have been trying to do that for years without success. Now these little guys come out of nowhere and are able to make a deal with Telkom that and other bigger ISP would kill for?

I'm very sceptical of the whole thing, lets see what happens when people sign up for it though (long-term), it might work out.

No superman, we read thourouly, and it says they MAY increase the price by no more than 10% every month, if they tune it more than 10%, you may resign from your contract.

[N]Haja
27 Mar 2005, 16:01
cool, do some compound calculations on 10% of R480.

1st month +R48 = R528
2nd month +R52.80 = R580.80
3rd month +R58.80 = R639.60
4th month +R63.96 = R703.56
etc etc
12th month = R1508.14!!!!!!!!!!

WOW, still looking like a bargain?

Not bad really, over 1K for 30 gigs. <------ sarcasim

Anyhoo, just thought I would try and add some rationality to it :)

It is not that they WILL charge you 10% more every month, its that they CAN..

The new agreement allows for no more than 30GB
fast international and national bandwidth for any ADSL account per month at
our current cost. After the 30GB is used the account will be throttled down
to 56kbps national only bandwidth until the end of the month. It resets at
the beginning of the next month.

Seriiaaas?!!?

56k speeds locally and NO international access after the cap? And a 12 month contract? And they toned down "unlimited" to 30GB within their first month of operating?!

OH MY WORD that just has a really bullshit marketing 'strategy' written all over it...

Like that thread says, next month they tell you it's reduced to 20? The month after, 10? Soon you're bound to a 12 month contract paying R900 for a regular 3GB account.

Very, very good actually. 22 to SGS and 56 to Mweb. That's slightly faster than my Tiscali/Mweb connection.

Both local and international downloads run at a steady 55kbps. If this lasts, its the deal of the year, if it doesn't, it was worth a shot!

Ok im on my way to work, i havent read the reviews or all of ure posts, but once u reach the 30gb, do u get kicked off teh adsl network, or is it like a normal capped account then, meaning u can browse and download locally? :))
