Ok, the trick jump video is also very impressive. That guy is literally floating around Campgrounds. Very very impressive! I want to check out that demo maker software he uses.

DJ, I recommend you check out the UT demo player/maker they are using. I have no idea what capabilities it has, but is it very obvious that you need server side demos and free mode cams.
The server side demo gives you the ability to edit a scene where Player A shoots and then pan to player B to show how the projectile approach. It is an incredibly cool effect.

I for one wouldn't mind a separate movie concentrating on Onslaught. I think we've got some amazing talent in our small community and a movie celebrating that would be really nice. :)

If you are planning on doing an Onslaught movie, try to keep the frags limited to the truly spectacular (or maybe funny) ones. I wouldn't want to see frags where it's simply some yahoo driving over people with a Manta or somesuch (unless it's a lot of people).

I'd do something myself, but unfortunately my connection doesn't allow me to record demos of sufficient quality, nor do I have access to server-side demos. :(

Xan, I really can't see how an ONS movie can be edited into something as entertaining as a duel/TDM movie. You have already heard PANCAKE a trillion times, DAREDEVIL a million more, and EAGLE EYE a heap of times. There is nothing exciting about capturing a node, blowing up a base, or even getting a great shot with a tank.
In order to make a spectacular ONS movie IMO, you will have to cut out a heap of slow-time and have a frag type movie only, with spectacular frags that only happens once every month.

In a TDM/Duel environment, you can get a great buildup to an exciting frag almost every match, with ONS once a month. It is a slow gametype that doesn't lend itself well to the action orientated movies these seem to be, but heck, I am just giving my own opinion.

Gamos - perhaps if we made a "story line" to an onslaught match - maybe make it a little more intertaining than just a ons movie!

I agree that a good ONS movie is a great deal more difficult to make than a good DM movie.

I also think skill is skill, and as such a movie showing skilled ONS players should be just as entertaining as a movie showing skilled DM players. Obviously such a movie wouldn't show nodes being built or destroyed, but with vehicular AND melee combat there is a lot of room for unique and spectacular frags.

Them's fightin' words! Personally I find an Eagle Eye on a Raptor moving horizontally at full speed almost half the map away a lot more impressive than a lg headshot. ;)

Hahah, ok ok, forget I mentioned the tank :)

An ONS movie have the potential to be much greater than a heap of DM movies, but you will need 10x the footage to do so.

In my minds eye I see the following intro (and bear with me, this is hard to type out):

Music starts playing a military march with bagpipes and the black makes way for the words DJ Present. Fade to Black. a GM production. Fade to Black. ONS-Wars (or whatever). Move the camera up to reveal the sky.

The music is a slow march that plays with a strong baseline - Doef, Doef, Doef, Doef, Trrrr, Doef, Doef, Doef. You edit a kill to match the baseline. Doef (Eagle Eye), Doef (Pancake), Doef (Daredevil), Doef (Maslaughter), Trrrr (tracks a Raptor across the sky), Doef (LG kills the Raptor), Doef (spiderbot kil), Doef (Tank explode), Doef (Node explode).

After an action packed intro you add slower strategic sections like a lone warrior succesfully defending a node against 2 vechicles, a arial attack etc, while the music slows down to a melody.

The end you have your baseline again almost linking the middle game with the results.

So, do I qualify as a junior director? Hahaha.

Gamos - promotion given - Junior Director. i have a few ideas that could work! Just each one will take a lot of time to get the right footage.

I will work on an ONS/CTF/BR movie - but those will come in time - so I am not gonna promise them now.

However - I have a few mini-shot ideas I will add from each game type in the current movie - but those ideas I'll keep to myself for now.

Whilst we`re at it they deserve those little fold up chairs and an 'assistant' who actually just brings them coffee the whole time...

I really liked them both too.

There are a lot of good frag videos around, I'm sure if I'd call this one "The best I've ever seen" hands down, but it's a good video. Any video that gives you the sudden urge to get some UT in is a good video in my opinion.

I think one essential is to keep the "frag quality" very, very high. Add the impressive, but kind of mediocre ones in at the end if you wish.

Server side demo's are a big help, but good frags are such an effort to search even when you do have the demos. I have to applaud the guys who put in all the effort.

It's probably one of the best and most talented I've ever seen (I've seen a fuck load) and I highly suggest you download whether you like Quake3 or not.

I just watched GetQuaked3 and although there are some magnificent rail and rocket shots, it just gets a bit much when you get to the end of the 17+ minutes of it over and over. I still prefer the diversity of the kills of Finnish it, but GetQuaked3 certainly wins the grand price on editing. The work alone makes it admirable.

1500 demos. 1 Terrabyte of space. 100's of hours editing.

Relax hai2u, you download it once and then it's in cache. GetQuaked3 is an awesome movie if you look at the quality, the best frags I've seen are from Own-Age's Annihilation.

I have watched the Unreal North and Malignancy movies. I will try get Annihilation when I have the bandwidth. The Unreal North movie has quite a few good frags, good editing and some good music (I didnt like all of the music used)
