Guys,

Answering one of the other threads got me on to something I would like to work on better with my team when I get back from Barbados.

Basically - it's how to train my team - to correctly work together as a team - and not loose focus when we are loosing.

How have you other Clans - worked out your team work. I mean - do you guys set roles, discuss it before you play, is there timing based on what you do, contingency plans????, etc...

There are roles for ppl to play. It's always a good thing when ur guys know what they are doing or what they have to do. How u define ur roles should be based on ur team and how the individuls in ur team work.

Improving team work, play as a team, but also play against each other, lots of practice, every1 in ur team has to know how the others work, so they know where to fit in and how to assist. work on it hard enough that it starts becoming a sub-concious thing.

Plan ur startegies and roles upfont before the game, but u also have to be dynamic enough to change those startegies during a game. If things are not working change the positions around, or try a different strategy altogether.

At first there is a bit of trial and error, but with time and experience it will start coming together.

What we did with TA was we had clan matches every Saturday, while we were getting our clan on it's feet. That got our original base players having a good feel for eachother, any new players joining there after were intigrated into that.

surely there is a basic step by step that's easier to follow. Sort of - some techniques that every player should attain to start working out a good form of team work?

Few I know of are:

1. Practicing of all kind of weapons - and knowing at least which you are best at
2. Knowing the maps
3. Understanding the stratedgies involved and knowing the gametype

and I am sure there's many more I can list - but how do you get a team mate - to realize and work his part properly especially when loosing - often - I find when loosing - the "team" falls back on their duties.

That's why you need to practice playing together a lot. After a while everyone instinctively knows their positions and what they are supposed to be doing. Players eventually end up playing in perfect synchronisation without ever needing to say a word to eachother beyond things like "Incoming left passage!" and everyone knows exactly what they need to do, and the rest of the team know what those who have stuff to do are doing.

Everything just falls into place with a few years of practice with your team.

Practice ur roles, and positions. try different ppl in diff roles and positions. so u know under what circumstances who fits best in those roles and positions. UT is a very dynamic game. the other teams will change startegies during a game to try throw u out. u got be able to adapt to it too.

but basic guidlines for starting off, practice roles and positions, play a lot together.

I think the most key factor in building good team work is to rather figure out who works in which positions the best, it is pointless putting your strongest players on attack just for the sake of trying to get flag caps. Team based games are built around communication. You can take on a clan that has 5 awesome players but still force a draw by having good team work.

Never forget, if you have good player attacking against 3 average defending players, the chances of that one player making it through alive is very slim.

I think in team games one must also note that powerups give huge advantage, especially 100shield and addrenaline. Redeemers are also crutial to breaking map lock when used strategically. There are so many various tactics in team games. I think the best thing to do is when the clans are having matches. Coach the red or blue team, which will allow you to listen to their voice comms and see how they work as a team.

That is my first advice. More to follow!
