Aaah, seems I skipped the Diamonback generation for a reason!

Razer's first Laser mouse, with 2000 Dpi, 1000Hz/1ms response full speed USB and 32K onboard memory.

Best of all, it seems us lefties can use it. :P

high DPI IS POINTLESS if the shape/design sucks, so many top players still play with the intellipoint 1.1 just because of the shape. So hopefully this shape/design won't suck like there previous mice, imo

26 Jul 2005, 12:36
Razer is very minimalistic in their design shape after the boomslang disaster. The Viper and Diamonback have been pretty standard, apart from the hard to reach side buttons.

If reviews are as favourable as they are for the Diamondback, this one will definately be in my Xmas stocking.

Ps - thanx Frags. A peace offering between me and Spoon :P

mmmm, very nice.

The buttons are not hard to reach though. Its just in making the mouse symetrical, for lefties to use,the pinkie button is a mirrored thumb button, therefore thats why it is hard to reach. if they moved it forward and down, it would be hard for lefties to use it as a thumb button. So I guess you lefties should thank razer :P

Diamondback sucked for me. Uselessly flat and didnt sit as comfy in my hand as this trusty old MX500. Perhaps I'm just too much used to Logitech.
And the pinky buttons?

Logitech > All

Gamos
27 Jul 2005, 10:01
Well, unless Logitech makes a MX318 that works for lefties, Razer is really the only high end sollution out there.

Does anyone have a clue when they are launching? Come on Naut, I know you and Krakoff are like peas and carrots :P

SHAPE > DPI, speed, lazer, how many g's etc, thats why Razer mice don't appeal to me. They don't fit nicely into one's hand. Thats why i will stick to my mx 310 prob for rest of my life.

GunJitsu
27 Jul 2005, 10:43
Or they must just kill all the lefties and make a razer for righthanded people only.

Gamos
27 Jul 2005, 11:28
Or I just pimpslap you and forget you said anything.

GunJitsu
27 Jul 2005, 11:37
I really feel for you lefties, you have to distort your hand when writing so you don't get ink all over yourself. But the funniest thing is watching a poor leftie trying to use right handed scissors, and the ones you get that do work for lefties look like school children stationary. So I will tolerate my razers pinky buttons just for you Gamos.

Hmmm, they also introduced a range of professional mice

Aren't all their products aimed at "pros" ?

Gamos
27 Jul 2005, 12:03
Yes Elco, but is seems those are CAD type mice. They are exactly the same really, but much like nVidia's Quadro series that is also just gaming cards.

Gunny, strangely enough, I cut right handed, I kick with my right foot, and I even eat with knife and fork the correct way, but when I use a fork alone, I eat left-handed, write left-handed and use the mouse left-handed.

It was tough using a right handed joystick back in the wing commander days :P

GunJitsu
27 Jul 2005, 12:13
I just eat left-handed, do we have any more south-paws in here?

Hey Gunny, I also eat left handed.

people always ask me why, since im right handed.

27 Jul 2005, 13:27
Well then im the odd one out looks like i can do most things with both hands and feet, i eat left or right handed write left or right handed, i mostly use my right hand because i was tought a school to use my right hand

go figure

-=BeLgaRiOn=-
27 Jul 2005, 14:14
I'm also left-handed. I use the mouse right-handed, eat left or right-handed, write left or right-handed (prefer left) and change gears right handed (jokes :D).

27 Jul 2005, 14:33
Interesting. I'm right-handed but eat and use the mouse left-handed. So I'm pretty excited about the Copperhead.

Bean
27 Jul 2005, 14:37
I use the mouse left-handed at work, and right-handed at home.

I'm hoping this will help against accidentally "head-shotting" my boss.

I get the same thing, all I answer is: then I'll put the knife in my mouth :P

Razer Copperhead is going to be released end of September. It is focused for the 3D shooter gamer, and has improvements to that of the DB, buttons are more erogonomic, they have introduced a Boomslang base for the side buttons, so that the end effect is easy access to both left and right side buttons. The mouse will come in 4 different colours (Magma, Liquid Silver, Chameleon, Orb Green) with an apparent neon glowing cable which will be detachable. Left and Right handed and will have On The Fly Sense II which apparently now for 3D shooter will be able to bind your sense(DPI) to your keys, how they going to do that I do not know. I have also been told that there is no negative G-force error on this mouse and that they are now going to introduce new teflon padding.

Personally I would wait on the Copperhead and get the Boomslang II when released next year Feb as IMHO if you are happy with your DB you don't need to get this mouse since 2000dpi vs 1600 dpi is not noticible in terms of performance and is just a gimic.

I'm a hopeless sucker for gimicks. One in each colour sounds niiiiiiice.

Robert 'Razerguy' Krakoff's blog revealing some interesting things:
http://blog.razerzone.com/
...The Copperhead does not replace the Diamondback and the feel and performance between the two is quite different....
...The Copperhead will be the official mouse of the WCG along with the upcoming Tarantula keyboard and the Piranha headset (additional information to come on both of these new products soon)....

Gamespot's hand's on preview:
http://hardware.gamespot.com/Story-ST-21730-2416-x-x-x
The mouse will be available in late August with an MSRP of $79.99. The Razer Copperhead might be too expensive for some, but the price is only slightly higher than other high-end laser mice, and the Copperhead is currently the only laser mouse that sports features designed specifically for gamers.

I'm getting me on of those :P

Probably going to cost about R800 here. :(

Gamos
11 Aug 2005, 14:38
That is why you buy directly from Razerzone.com

$80 * 6.5 = R520

The Diamonback is R450 including shipping if you import, but sells for R699 on the shelves. MADNESS!

Cataphract
11 Aug 2005, 14:40
Cool. How much are the shipping charges? About $20?

Gamos
11 Aug 2005, 14:46
About ~R70. Fact is, you will get that mouse for <R600 where retailers will no doubt match the current Diamonback ripoff pricing.

Gotta be honest here... I never really thought of a mouse as a critical piece of gaming hardware. Reckon I'm gonna rethink that affter seeing this thread.

Hey DJ!!! MF demands razer Copperhead mice all round. :-)
